Nixco Chief Named QSC Trustee Vice-Chairman

Nixco Plumbing, Inc.’s head honcho has added another notch to his belt. Owner and president Jeff Heger was elected vice-chairman of the Quality Service Contractors trustee board in March.

The vote took place during QSC’s Power Meeting 2018 in Savannah, GA, which occurred between March 6-8. The gathering brings together plumbing and HVAC service and repair contractors for several days of networking and training seminars. Quality Service Contractors is an Enhanced Service Group of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association.

Also elected were Doug Isley of L.E. Isley & Sons, Inc. in Westfield, IN and Jeff Longspaugh of ClearWater Plumbers in Fort Worth, TX as new trustees. Dan Callies of Oak Creek Plumbing in Oak Creek, WI was voted chairman of the board of trustees.

Heger was one of the founding members of Nixco Plumbing, Inc. in 1978 and has been an active member of the local business community. He’s a two-time president of the Cincinnati Master Plumbers Association and is also a member of the Better Business Bureau, Northeast Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Focus on the Future

The theme of this year’s Power Meeting was Future Proofing Your Business. During the three-day event, members learned how to better plan for the future by building business value, developing leaders for the future, analyzing economic forecasts, dealing with technology trends and preparing for disasters.

“You want your company to eventually take care of you and give you financial freedom,” QSC chairman Lawrence Snow said, “and there are things you can do now, every day, to get the most out of your business later on.”

Part of securing a future is creating leaders to take your company and the industry forward in the future.

“You have to develop and nurture that talent over time,” Snow said.

It’s also wise, he said, to plan for the worst circumstances, including those that may affect your workplace such as fire and flood, but also those that may impact your bottom line, including economic downturn and global events.

“It’s too late to figure out your business continuity plan when you need it.”

Snow also warned those in attendance to be aware and open to what may come, particularly in terms of technology trends and market forces.

“Right now there are many traditional industries and business models that are being severely disrupted and challenged by technology,” he said. “We cannot take our eyes off the ball.”

What’s Next?

By keeping an eye on what’s to come, contractors and service providers can secure the future of their business. They can also continue offering customers to very best service and state-of-the-art tools to deliver a high-quality product.

Speaking of looking toward the future, QSC’s next event, which is being held in conjunction with PHCC’s CONNECT 2018, will be held Oct. 10-12 in Albuquerque, NM. While at the event, members will up their game by learning about business management techniques and be given access to ready-to-use knowledge and tools.

The PHCC National Association, which was formed in 1883, offers legislative advocacy and training to more than 3,500 plumbing and HVAC businesses along with 70,000 technicians.
