Preventive Maintenance Saves Money!

How Does Preventive Maintenance Ultimately Save Me Money?

Preventative Maintenance and it’s Essentials

Ever wonder how you can save a lot of money? Don’t worry that’s a rhetorical because we already know the answer is yes. While most of us have heard a plethora of tips from a plethora of sources as to how we can keep a little extra money in our checking accounts every month (especially after we drop a thousands bucks on that deadly mortgage) we probably don’t pay much attention to the advice we’re given because it becomes redundant. We can help with our plumbing services.

However, if I may, i’d like to suggest another, and quite effective way, to save money via a process known as preventative maintenance.

Preventative maintenance is, essentially, the process of maintenance that includes tests, adjustments, part replacements, etc. to ensure the quality of a product or system so it’s life span may be increased or, if there is damage, that damage can be taken care of to prevent further and expensive issues.

A simple example of preventative maintenance would be if someone bought an incandescent light bulb and the package it was bought in mentions that the bulb’s life span is about three years. So, in an act of preventative maintenance maintenance, just before the three years are up, the individual decides to replace the bulb with a new one.

Why Is This Important?

Preventative maintenance has a place in a lot of areas, but it can be an essential money saving tool in regards to plumbing. A lot of problems with your plumbing system are like terminal illnesses in that they are far more easier to correct, less damaging, and save you a whole lot more money if they’re detected early.

Teaching yourself to recognize problems with your plumbing system is a smart idea. Watch to see if your water is turning a rusty color or you hear unusual sounds when you turn the sink on or flush the toilet.

Also, having your plumbing company come out, say, once a year for a basic inspection is not a bad idea either as their knowledge on the subject probably surpasses yours and they know how important preventative maintenance is and will point out problems that could become worse and more expensive with time and need to be corrected as soon as possible.

So, now that you’ve added some more money saving knowledge to your working memory, get out there and save!
