Stains on Tile and How to Remove Them
Water stains inside the bathtub and tile is a common problem that causes concern. The cause of the problem is the fact that the tub and tile area stays wet for several hours after you take your shower. Everyday cleaning products will not remove these stains.
You can either buy heavy-duty cleaners made especially for stubborn bathtub stains, your make your own natural solution with common household products.
There are tips you can follow to reduce the amount of stains, mold and mildew in the bathrooms of your home.
Bathroom Tile
The tile that surrounds your tub gets a lot of abuse from soap scum and water that produces mold and mildew. It is not only unattractive, but mold and mildew is bad for your health. Harsh chemicals are not required to get rid of unsightly mold and mildew. A solution of half vinegar and water will remove mold and mildew. Use it on a regular basis to keep it from coming back.
If you have a fan in the bathroom, make sure you turn it on before taking a shower. A few drops of tea tree oil inside a spray bottle will also keep mold and mildew under control. Spray it on the surfaces that surround the tub and shower for best results. Rinse all products you apply with water and dry promptly.
Bathtub Stains
It is almost impossible to keep stains from forming inside the bathtub when you take a bath. If you get into the habit of removing stains each time you bathe, then they will be easier to control.
Use a natural cleaner to get rid of tough stains such as a baking soda paste. You can also try distilled vinegar and hydrogen peroxide as bathroom cleaners. Use only one of the products at a time and experiment to see which ones work best on bathtub stains.
Control Moisture
A good way to keep moisture at a minimum in the bathroom is to keep a window open. Never install carpet in the bathroom since it can cause mold and mildew to develop inside the carpet’s padding.
A squeegee is useful to wipe down shower surfaces to keep stains from forming. If the stains are in the caulking, then consider removing it entirely and redo the caulking.
Control moisture in the bathroom by leaving the bathroom door open after someone showers or bathes. Close the shower curtain when finishing your shower.
